APPA 2009 Done & Dusted
I’ve just stpped off the plane from APPA 2009 in Sydney and what a blast it was! Got to meet all my idols, mainly Christian Fletcher, his brother Michael, oh and did I mention Christian Fletcher?!!?
Anyway, whilst Christian was being mobbed by all the gay men in Sydney, I was off judging at the AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year Awards (APPA). I was fortunate to judge the Landscape, Science & Nature and Environmental Portraiture categories. Lots of good images across all categories and it was a big thrill to hand out a few GOLDS along the journey.
To cap off the weekend, I was invited as one of only 11 judges to vote for the big one, the 2009 Canon AIPP Professional Photographer of the Year. Congratulations to Charmaine Heyer who was a most deserved winner annd along with her partner Peter, are a dynamic couple (and the two of the funniest and nicest people you’ll meet).

Well done again on your judging, was great to share my first experiance in sitting in the hotseat with you and to help get those golds (and gold distinction) up where they belonged.
Now, just remember to enter yourself in the awards next year!

You know the funny thing Tom, the gay guys just wanted to know about you and your pink feather boa! Mate I hope that year off is to become the MC of future aipp events or at least the social co-ordinator. Your more fun than a feather boa and you should realise your god given talents! Great to catch up with you guys again, will see you in August if your around and free of swine flu!

Your my idol Tommy P. Maybe you should join us video guys. Talent such as yourself needs to be documented in moving footage. You would make a great presenter on the next True North adventure. Dont hold your breath though my future on that gig is looking like a dodgy APPA. Kisses all round xxxxxx

Thanks Mike! I’d happily be documented by a great man like yourself. You should know I’m always up for the spotlight to be shone on me!!
